Dear all,
This is the last newsletter before the summer break. We will keep it short but we would like you to know that the registration for the DISC course program will open on August 1.
Enjoy the summer and see you in September!
With best regards,
Henk Nijmeijer,
scientific director
Martha Otte,
DISC secretariat
The DISC course program 2018-2019 is ready! You will find the course schedule here. Registration will open August 1 on the DISC course platform.
This fall the following courses are scheduled:
Adaptive Control (September 3, 10 and 17)
S. Baldi and B. Fidan
Computational Linear Algebra: a least squares perspective: (October 1, 8 and 15)
M. Verhaegen and B. De Moor
Underactuated Mechanical Systems: motion planning, motion representation and motion control methods (November 12 and 19)
A. Shiriaev and A. Pogromskiy
The courses are taught at cursus en vergadercentrum Domstad in Utrecht, location Koningsbergerstraat 9. For more information see their website.
Carlas Smith (DCSC) is the recipient of a Veni grant 2018. The Veni grants allow researchers who have recently obtained their PhD to conduct independent research and develop their ideas for a period of three years. Carlas’s proposal research concerns super-resolution microscopy in live tissue: “a considerable amount of knowledge is missing to effectively prevent, diagnose and treat diseases, due to lack of suitable techniques for super-resolution live-tissue imaging. The researcher will synergistically combine optics and information aspects to maximize recorded information content of a microscope. The technology targets imaging with nanometer-resolution in live-thick tissue.”
As of 1 September 2018, Prof. Bart De Schutter will be the new departmental chair of The Delft Centre for Systems and Control (DCSC). Bart is taking from Hans Hellendoorn, who was recently appointed chair of CoR (Cogntive Robotics).
